Yes Bird Dogs, Shibas and Cats
 can live together!

Our choice in dogs is as diverse as our opinions on dog care, conditioning, breeding, canine nutrition, hunting, dare I say politics!

Cats?!
We are a small kennel with our dogs and cats living in the house with us always.  We have a very limited breeding program.  But are always willing to talk with perspective owners about our breeds and were to find a reputable breeder.

We have been lucky to have mentors in the dog world that have spent countless hours teaching us over the last 16 years.  In turn, educating the perspective dog owner is a huge goal here at Bird Mtn.

(This picture is old now, some are no longer with us, but it is a perfect representation of them getting along together.)

Who We Are:

Although you are here to learn about our dogs, here is a little about the people at Bird Mtn.  Location:  near Denver Colorado

Amanda Johnson was born in Alaska and raised in a small town, Bird Creek, near our name sake Bird Mountain.  Amanda was raised with many pets, dogs, birds, rabbits, cats, not to mention all the critters in the forest around her family home.  In 1996 during her second trip to Kyoto Japan, Amanda acquired her first Shiba Inu.  Thus starting her “DOG LIFE.”

In 1998 Amanda and Hanako moved to Denver to attend the Bel-Rea Institute.  Amanda is now a Certified Veterinary Technician and works in a specialty veterinary hospital.

Bryan Johnson was born and raised in Golden Colorado.  In 1997 Bryan graduated college and began his career as an Automotive Technician.  In 2001 Bryan went on his first hunting trip and has been addicted to hunting ever since.  From large game to upland birds, Bryan hunts them all.

Bryan and Amanda are charter members of the Wirehaired Vizsla Club of America, where Amanda served as the clubs first President (2006-2009).  She has also served as Secretary, VP, Health Chair and Judges Education Chair.

We are also members of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (www.NAVHDA.org) and our local Rocky Mountain chapter (www.RMC-NAVHDA.org).

Pedigree is what the dog should be.
Conformation is what the dog appears to be.
Performance shows what the dog actually is.
