We had no intention in getting another WV when we saw Ada. After spending the summer field and obedience training Quodians Pajtas for our breeder Deb Wall. We had had just about all the Bird Dog we ever wanted to handle for awhile. But as fate would have it, Debs County litter was 6 weeks old when we pulled into the drive to return him.
Tell tale signs of their coat were beginning to show, we watched as the pups ran across the yard and off to the other side of the house, spent time with them on the table, looking over the conformation of the litter. And, at some point, I looked at Bryan and we both said, “The Yellow Puppy.”
Ada spent that first fall hunting with the big dogs. CO, KS, ND, no bird left un-flushed. Come spring and time for her NA test, I insisted that I wanted to run her, Bryan agreed (though he wasn’t too sure about it.) Sure, she probably would have done better if she ran with her dad, but boy did we have fun training and testing that day.
Ada has turned 7 now, with a first litter under her belt.
We are looking forward to the next hunting season.
